Resident Evil Requiem dataminer finds best clue yet that a Mercenaries mode could be on the way

A dataminer has uncovered unused music in Resident Evil Requiem’s game files that could indicate the development of a Mercenaries mode for the title. Security researcher Syrkov shared their findings on social media, including tracks they discovered while exploring the game’s backend, noting the music “could be related to future extra mode / Mercenaries.”

Mercenaries is a fan-favorite arcade-style action mode that has appeared in multiple Resident Evil games throughout the franchise. The mode challenges players to defeat as many enemies as possible within a time limit, emphasizing fast-paced combat and scoring mechanics. Notably, Mercenaries was added to the Resident Evil 4 remake as post-launch downloadable content, suggesting Capcom has continued supporting the series with such additions.

The discovery comes amid news that Capcom has already announced plans to release a new RE9 “mini-game” in May, which could align with this datamined evidence. However, the company has not officially confirmed whether Mercenaries mode is in development for Requiem or what the May mini-game announcement entails. While datamining can provide credible evidence of upcoming content, such discoveries remain speculative until officially confirmed by the publisher.
