Windrose Celebrates 1 Million Copies Sold as Player Counts Climb

Windrose, a cooperative pirate-themed survival crafting game developed by Kraken Express and published by Pocketpair Publishing, has achieved remarkable commercial success since its Early Access launch. The game reached 1 million copies sold just six days after releasing on Steam and Epic Games Store on April 14, 2026.

The game’s success extends beyond sales figures. Windrose currently ranks as the fourth most-played game on Steam, with between 200,000 and 220,718 concurrent players, placing it behind only Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds. By revenue, it ranks second on Steam, trailing only Counter-Strike 2.

The game has garnered strong player reception, accumulating over 7,000 reviews with a “very positive” overall rating. The development team acknowledged the milestone and expressed gratitude to players for their support.

Windrose’s momentum is particularly noteworthy given the competitive landscape at launch. The game unexpectedly overshadowed Pragmata, Capcom’s sci-fi shooter which was the week’s highest-profile new release, capturing players’ attention with its survival-crafting gameplay loop and cooperative pirate theme.
