Dorohedoro season 2 is finally here and somehow wilder than ever
Dorohedoro returns for its long-awaited second season on Netflix, arriving six years after the anime’s debut. The continuation maintains the series’ signature style of visceral action, dark comedy, and surreal storytelling, while broadening its narrative scope beyond the first season’s focus on the alligator-faced protagonist Kaiman.
Produced by animation studio Mappa and based on Q Hayashida’s manga, season 2 shifts its attention to the expanded cast of characters that inhabit the anime’s chaotic world. The new season introduces Risu’s human form, a significant reveal for a character previously seen only as a disembodied head under mysterious circumstances in the first season.
Risu’s storyline becomes central to the season’s plot, as the character escapes from the En family and seeks out their former gang, the Cross-Eyes—a group of humans who specialize in hunting sorcerers. The search for Risu’s killer propels much of the season’s action. The Cross-Eyes and their enigmatic leader are positioned to play substantial roles throughout the new episodes, suggesting a major shift in the show’s power dynamics and conflict structure.
The series’ return demonstrates Netflix’s continued investment in anime properties and niche content that has developed dedicated fan bases. With the extended gap between seasons, the show’s return offers long-time fans resolution to lingering plot threads while introducing new viewers to the franchise’s distinctive blend of horror, comedy, and unconventional storytelling.
