Granblue Fantasy: Relink’s Expanded PS5, PS4 Re-Release Adds an Actual Story Intro
Cygames announced that the expanded re-release of Granblue Fantasy: Relink, titled Granblue Fantasy: Relink - Endless Ragnarok, will address one of the original game’s notable shortcomings: the lack of a proper introduction for new players.
The original 2024 action RPG’s main weakness was that it dropped players directly into its narrative with minimal context or explanation. The upcoming re-release will feature a straightforward story recap that introduces the events leading into Relink’s main plot, sourced from the broader Granblue Fantasy universe—covering storylines from both the original mobile game and anime adaptation.
This addition serves as an important accessibility improvement, particularly for players unfamiliar with the Granblue Fantasy franchise. The recap will establish the context for protagonist Gran and his sky-faring adventure alongside his colorful cast of companions, setting the stage for the events players will experience in the main game.
The inclusion of a proper introduction in Endless Ragnarok demonstrates developer awareness of a common criticism of Relink’s original launch. While the 2024 release attracted action RPG fans, the confusing narrative entry point may have deterred players new to the franchise.
