The horrible Construct cyborgs of tactics game Menace are getting a rework for “style” and “variety”, while the devs put a bullet in the promotion tax

Mercenary tactics game Menace is receiving a substantial update from developer Overhype that addresses several gameplay systems and design concerns. The update removes a “promotion tax” feature that proved unpopular with players, streamlining the progression system. Additionally, all units gain the ability to clear away wrecked vehicles, expanding tactical options and environmental interaction.

The most significant change involves a comprehensive rework of the Construct faction, a group of robotic enemy units that Overhype acknowledged were “severely lacking in uniqueness, variety, and style.” The developers are redesigning the faction to provide greater visual and mechanical diversity, aiming to make encounters with Construct enemies more engaging and varied throughout gameplay.

The update reflects Overhype’s commitment to refining core systems and responding to player feedback. By removing mechanical friction points like the promotion tax and enhancing enemy faction design, the developers are working to improve the overall experience for what appears to be a well-received tactics game.
