Video: Overwatch Official Side-By-Side Comparison (Switch 1 & 2)

Blizzard’s free-to-play team-based shooter Overwatch has launched on the Nintendo Switch 2, though the initial release experienced some technical issues. The developer quickly addressed these problems with updates to stabilize the experience.

To highlight the improvements made for the Switch 2 version, Blizzard released an official side-by-side comparison video showcasing the difference between the original Switch release and the new Switch 2 port. The video demonstrates notable enhancements including sharper visuals, higher fidelity audio, and improved frame rates of up to 60 fps in both docked and handheld modes—a significant jump from the original Switch version’s performance.

Prior to the latest patch, gaming outlet Good Vibes Gaming had tested the Switch 2 version and documented slight visual improvements. However, with the post-release update, the gap between the two versions has become more pronounced, with the Switch 2 edition delivering substantially better environmental detail and overall visual clarity.

The enhanced performance represents a major advantage of the Switch 2’s more powerful hardware, allowing Blizzard to optimize the title for the new platform while maintaining the accessibility of handheld play. The improvements in audio fidelity and frame rate consistency are particularly noteworthy for a competitive team-based game where responsiveness and clarity are crucial to gameplay.
