Piratical survival game Windrose sails past 1m copies sold, as player counts continue to rise

Windrose, a pirate-themed survival game developed by Kraken Express, has achieved a remarkable sales milestone by selling 1 million copies within just six days of its early access launch. The game has garnered impressive player engagement, with concurrent player counts reaching over 222,000 peak users on Steam alone, recorded on Sunday, April 19.

The game’s performance extends across multiple platforms, with Windrose available on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Stove. While Steam represents a substantial portion of the game’s audience, Windrose currently holds the position of No. 1 best-selling game on Steam in the United States and ranks No. 2 globally.

Developer Kraken Express celebrated the milestone with an official announcement, expressing gratitude to players and acknowledging their patience during the early access phase as the team works on fixes and improvements. The success reflects strong community reception and demonstrates the game’s significant appeal despite remaining in early access development.
