VGC GOAT Wolfey Glick Defends Pokémon Champions’ Limited Roster

Pokémon VGC legend and content creator Wolfe ‘Wolfey’ Glick has publicly defended Pokémon Champions against criticism from veteran players regarding its limited roster. In a tweet, Glick argued that he enjoys the game’s simplicity and believes the increased accessibility and lower barrier to entry outweigh the tradeoff of fewer tools available to experienced competitors.

The title has drawn criticism from VGC veterans frustrated by the limited number of available Pokémon and missing competitive items. Out of 1,025 unique Pokémon, Champions currently features only 187 playable options. Additionally, several commonly used competitive items are absent from the game, including Assault Vest, Choice Band, and Rocky Helmet.

Glick’s defense comes as the community debates whether Pokémon Champions needs expansion to its roster. While many veteran players have called for a broader selection of Pokémon and items, Glick argues that the current limitations benefit newcomers and lower barriers to entry. His stance reflects an ongoing tension in competitive gaming between accessibility for new players and strategic depth for veterans.
