Here’s our first clear look at Link’s full outfit in the live-action Legend of Zelda film
The live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda has wrapped principal photography in New Zealand, with the film’s cinematographer sharing the first detailed look at Link’s appearance in the movie.
Director of Photography Gyula Pados posted a photo of the film’s clapperboard to Instagram to commemorate the end of shooting, featuring concept art of the Hylian hero. The artwork depicts Link in his iconic green tunic and pointy cap, wielding the Master Sword with what appears to be the Hylian Shield strapped to his back. The clapperboard also displayed the golden Triforce, a central symbol of the Zelda franchise.
This marks the most comprehensive view of Link’s design in the upcoming adaptation, directed by Wes Ball (Maze Runner films) and starring Benjamin Evan Ainsworth in the lead role. While production photos of Ainsworth in costume have previously been released by Nintendo, this concept art provides a fuller picture of the character’s classic gear and appearance.
The film, a collaboration between Nintendo and Columbia Pictures, is scheduled for release on May 7, 2027. Pados’s Instagram post has since been deleted, though the image circulated widely on social media before its removal. The timing of the concept art reveal suggests Nintendo and Columbia Pictures may be preparing to ramp up promotional efforts for the adaptation as it enters post-production.
