AMD docs hint that multi frame gen might finally be coming to Radeon GPUs
AMD appears to be moving forward with multi-frame generation technology for Radeon GPUs, according to evidence found in company documentation. While still unconfirmed and not guaranteed to materialize as full multi-frame generation (MFG) support, the hints suggest AMD is actively developing the feature to compete with Nvidia’s DLSS frame generation capabilities.
AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) frame generation technology has struggled to gain significant adoption in games compared to Nvidia’s more established DLSS frame generation solution. Despite this competitive disadvantage, AMD has continued investing in frame generation development for its Radeon graphics card lineup.
Multi-frame generation, which can synthesize multiple frames rather than a single frame, represents a potential advancement in the technology. If implemented successfully, it could offer Radeon users improved performance gains in supported games. However, the discovery remains preliminary—the documentation references are only suggestive indicators rather than official announcements.
The competitive landscape between AMD and Nvidia in AI-assisted graphics technology remains intense, with game developers increasingly integrating frame generation into modern titles. AMD’s potential MFG implementation could help narrow the gap in game support and user adoption for its FSR technology.
