007 First Light Is Borrowing Ideas From Some Of Hitman’s Best Game Modes

IO Interactive has unveiled fresh gameplay details for its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, through a new trailer showcasing the “Rules of Spycraft.” The game emphasizes stealth-focused gameplay drawing heavily from the studio’s acclaimed Hitman franchise, allowing players to approach missions in multiple ways through blending in, using gadgets from MI6’s Q Branch, and engaging in stealthy undercover operations.

A standout addition is the Tac-Sim mode (Tactical Simulation), inspired by Hitman’s beloved Escalation Contracts and Freelancer modes. This feature presents agents with missions featuring increasingly challenging parameters and objectives, encouraging replayability and mastery. The mode includes an online leaderboard system enabling players worldwide to compete for top scores and earn experience points.

Between missions, players will visit the MI6 hub, where they can interact with familiar characters, gather intelligence, and equip cutting-edge technology before their next assignment. This hub structure mirrors the downtime experience found in Hitman.

The game is set to launch in summer 2026 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The official theme song, composed by Lana Del Rey, accompanies a cinematic Bond-style title sequence, reinforcing the game’s commitment to delivering an authentic 007 experience. With its focus on stealth, player agency, and replayability mechanics proven successful in Hitman, 007 First Light aims to capture both the espionage intrigue and action that define the James Bond franchise.
