11 bit Studios is reimagining This War of Mine, and there’s never been a more raw and relevant time for it
Polish developer 11 bit Studios announced plans to reimagine its acclaimed 2014 survival game This War of Mine, alongside multiple other projects. The studio revealed the reimagining—codenamed Project P15—through its full-year 2025 financial report, positioning it as a “fully modern, fresh take” rather than a standard remaster. The project is designed from the ground up with a multi-year post-release development roadmap, indicating the studio’s commitment to long-term support.
The announcements came alongside updates on other upcoming titles. 11 bit Studios confirmed development of Frostpunk 1886, a previously known project, while also revealing an entirely new Frostpunk game that will expand the franchise beyond its city-building roots into an unspecified new genre. Additionally, the company announced two completely new games, codenamed P14 and P12.
CEO Przemysław Marszał emphasized the value of the studio’s existing intellectual properties, suggesting the reimagining reflects the company’s strategic focus on leveraging its established franchises. This War of Mine, which originally brought 11 bit Studios international recognition, follows civilians’ experiences during wartime, making the reimagining particularly resonant given contemporary global conflicts.
The announcements demonstrate the studio remains financially healthy and is investing significantly in ambitious projects despite a busy development slate. With multiple games in active development, 11 bit Studios appears confident in its portfolio and the potential of both established and new properties.
