Best PS5 games in 2026 (updated April 2026)
Polygon has updated its living list of the best PlayStation 5 games as of April 2026. The compilation reflects the expanding library available on Sony’s console, which is now in the latter half of its lifecycle according to Sony’s own statements.
The PS5’s library has grown substantially since launch, though Polygon notes that the rate of must-play new releases has slowed compared to previous PlayStation generations. The selection includes both classic titles from earlier in the console’s cycle and newer releases, curated based on the personal tastes of the Polygon team.
A major catalyst for updated interest in the PS5’s library is the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto 6 later in 2026. The game is expected to become the PS5’s defining title, though it has not yet launched at the time of this list’s publication. Industry discussion has already begun regarding the console’s successor, with PlayStation 6 development considerations coming into focus as the PS5 approaches the latter stages of its commercial lifecycle.
Polygon’s list serves as a guide for both new and existing PS5 owners seeking recommendations on what to play from the console’s growing catalog. As a living list, the compilation will be updated as additional games release throughout 2026 and beyond, ensuring it remains a current resource for players navigating the PS5’s library.
