Xbox Game Pass “Pick-Your-Own” Plan Being Considered, Report Says, As Further Discord Integration Teased
Microsoft is considering introducing a new “pick-your-own” customization option for Xbox Game Pass that would allow subscribers to build personalized subscription plans. According to Windows Central sources, the company’s long-term goal is to make Game Pass “more flexible” in response to feedback about subscription costs and value.
Currently, Xbox Game Pass offers three tiers—Essential, Premium, and Ultimate—each with fixed sets of benefits. The proposed model would instead let players select specific content and services they’re interested in, creating a tailored experience rather than paying for unused features.
The initiative aligns with recent comments from Xbox Gaming CEO Asha Sharma, who acknowledged pricing concerns and signaled changes were coming. This customization approach reflects Microsoft’s broader effort to make Game Pass more competitive in the increasingly crowded subscription market.
The announcement accompanies other recent Game Pass changes: Microsoft has implemented a price reduction for existing tiers, while confirming that Call of Duty titles will no longer launch day-one on the service. Additionally, Microsoft has teased further integration of Discord with Game Pass, suggesting the company is exploring deeper partnerships to enhance the overall offering.
