Koei Tecmo revises FY26 results following success of Pokémon Pokopia and Nioh 3
Koei Tecmo has significantly revised its financial forecast for fiscal year 2026 (ending March 2026), projecting substantial improvements driven by strong video game sales and investment gains.
The company now forecasts ordinary profit of ¥55.5 billion ($345.2 million), representing a 50% increase from its initial projection of ¥37 billion ($232.2 million). Operating profit is projected to rise 16.1% to ¥36 billion ($225.9 million) from the previously forecasted ¥31 billion ($194.5 million). However, net sales are expected to decline 4.9% to ¥87.5 billion ($549.2 million) from ¥92 billion ($577.5 million).
The upward revision is primarily attributed to exceptional fourth-quarter performance from several major titles. Nioh 3 has become the fastest-selling game in its franchise, significantly outperforming sales expectations. Pokémon Pokopia and Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake have also delivered stronger-than-anticipated results.
In addition to robust game sales, the profit increase was bolstered by gains from investment activities. This combination has enabled Koei Tecmo to dramatically improve its profit outlook despite a slight decline in overall net sales. The revision represents a significant turnaround, as the publisher had originally anticipated a year-on-year profit decrease before the strong Q4 performance.
