Watch Marvel star Kumail Nanjiani smash the first Taskmaster in this new video
Marvel actor Kumail Nanjiani is competing as a contestant on Taskmaster series 21, available on YouTube internationally and on Channel 4 in the UK. He is the third American contestant to appear on the British comedy competition show, following Desiree Burch and Jason Mantzoukas.
Nanjiani is a significant fan of the long-running series, having discovered it through comedian James Acaster’s stand-up special Repertoire. His enthusiasm for the show runs deep enough that he reportedly disregarded financial advice warning against his participation, ultimately accepting the role despite the personal financial cost.
The show’s format centers on contestants completing absurd, unconventional challenges that require creative problem-solving and lateral thinking. In an upcoming episode airing April 9 at 4 p.m. EDT, a new clip shows Nanjiani competing in one of the show’s signature tasks. The release of this footage highlights his participation in what is widely considered the British comedy competition’s most prestigious crown: becoming Taskmaster Champion.
