Marathon Changes Announced
Marathon, Bungie’s extraction shooter, has received a significant quality-of-life update aimed at reducing the game’s difficulty for new players. Update 1.0.6.1, now live, doubles the inventory carrying capacity for consumables like Depleted Patch Kits (medical supplies) and Depleted Shield Charges (armor protection). Players can now stack up to six of these items per inventory slot, up from the previous limit of three, making it easier to maintain supplies during intense gameplay sessions.
The update also increases the daily stock limits for Enhanced and Deluxe Sponsored Kits, and newly recruited players will now earn patch kits and shield charges at a significantly higher rate. These incremental but impactful changes address pain points in the early-game experience, helping new players survive longer and reducing the punishing resource scarcity that often frustrates beginners in extraction-style games. Bungie’s focus on removing friction for new players suggests the studio is committed to improving accessibility while maintaining the core strategic challenges that drive engagement in live-service shooters.
