If You Like Metal Slug, Xbox Is Having A Massive Sale On Nine Of Its Games Right Now
Xbox is currently running a massive sale featuring nine Metal Slug titles, spanning multiple eras of the beloved run-and-gun franchise. The sale includes six ACA NEOGEO releases of classic arcade entries, two Xbox 360 backwards-compatible versions, and Metal Slug Attack Reloaded, a 2024 tower defense spin-off that brings the franchise into new territory.
The sale provides both longtime fans and newcomers with an opportunity to experience the Metal Slug legacy, which has established itself as one of gaming’s most cherished franchises. The ACA NEOGEO releases preserve the original arcade versions on modern Xbox platforms, making these classic titles accessible to contemporary audiences.
User reviews on the Xbox Store reveal varying reception across the catalog. Earlier entries like ACA NEOGEO Metal Slug 1 and 3 have garnered stronger player reviews, while Metal Slug 2 and 4 have received criticism regarding technical performance, with reports of slowdown and occasional glitches impacting the Xbox experience.
This promotional offering reflects a broader trend in game preservation and re-release strategy, as publishers make classic titles accessible on modern platforms. The inclusion of both retro arcade versions and newer spin-offs demonstrates Xbox’s commitment to representing different chapters of the Metal Slug franchise across multiple eras. The sale represents a significant discount opportunity for players interested in the franchise, whether seeking to relive nostalgic experiences or discover these games for the first time.
