Vampire Survivors developer Poncle is ramping things up, working on 15 new games and opening studios in Italy and Japan
Riding the massive success of Vampire Survivors, which has reached 27 million players since its October 2022 launch, developer Poncle is significantly expanding its operations. The studio announced plans to open new offices in Italy and Japan, aiming to maintain its independent spirit while scaling up production.
According to chief strategy officer Matteo Sapio, speaking at the London Games Festival, Poncle is currently working on 15 projects across multiple game types. These include spin-offs like the recently released Vampire Crawlers (a deck-builder), two entirely new original properties, and IP collaborations with other franchises. The studio clarified that these 15 projects encompass not just full games but also DLC, free updates, and titles published by Poncle for other developers.
The expansion represents Poncle’s strategy to reinvest Vampire Survivors’ momentum into a diverse portfolio while preserving the indie sensibility that defined the roguelike bullet-heaven hit. Vampire Survivors, originally created by solo developer Luca Galante, became a cultural phenomenon after its release, earning Best Game at the 2023 BAFTA Games Awards and securing a prominent position on Xbox Game Pass. With the new studios, Poncle aims to establish regional hubs that will enable the company to grow without losing the creative independence and agility that made its breakout hit successful.
