Hyper Light Drifter Dev’s Gorgeous Metroidvania Jumps To Switch 2 Next Week
Possessor(s), the latest stylish action game from Heart Machine (creators of Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash), is making its way to Switch 2. Publisher Devolver Digital announced that the Metroidvania title will launch on Nintendo’s new console on April 29, 2026, following its previous release on PS5 and PC.
The game centers on Luca, a high school student who becomes possessed by Rhem, a desperate demon in search of a host. Rather than fighting over control, the two characters form an unlikely partnership. Luca gains access to a range of combat tools and abilities through this possession, though notably, traditional melee weapons like swords are absent from the arsenal.
The gameplay emphasizes fast-paced action that has become Heart Machine’s signature style, combined with exploration mechanics as players navigate the ruins of Sanzu, a decaying urban environment. This blend of combat and exploration defines the Metroidvania formula, giving players freedom to explore while progressing through the story of Luca and Rhem’s survival.
The Switch 2 port marks another expansion for the title, allowing a broader audience to experience Heart Machine’s distinctive visual aesthetic and action-focused gameplay on Nintendo’s latest hardware.
