Star Wars horror novel Hiding From The Dark announced by Lucasfilm Publishing

Lucasfilm Publishing announced new Star Wars books scheduled for 2026 release, expanding the franchise into different genres. The company revealed the titles at New York Comic Con last October.

Among the announced releases is a young-adult romance novel titled “Eyes Like Stars” by Ashley Poston. More significantly, acclaimed horror author Kiersten White will write a horror novel called “Hiding From The Dark.” White is a New York Times bestselling author and two-time Bram Stoker Award winner known for horror novels including “The Fox and The Devil” and “Lucy Undying.” She has already contributed to the Star Wars universe through “Padawan,” which explores Obi-Wan Kenobi’s formative teenage years and his training under Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn.

The announcements reflect Lucasfilm’s strategy to expand Star Wars beyond traditional science fiction by recruiting acclaimed genre authors. By bringing established horror and romance writers into the Star Wars literary universe, the publisher aims to attract new audiences while maintaining franchise appeal. White’s proven expertise in both award-winning horror fiction and Star Wars storytelling positions “Hiding From The Dark” as a significant entry in the expanded universe.

The 2026 releases demonstrate Lucasfilm Publishing’s commitment to diversifying its Star Wars output, exploring psychological horror and romantic narratives alongside conventional space opera storytelling.
