Xbox Teases New Collaboration with Discord
Microsoft has announced a new partnership between Xbox and Discord aimed at making Game Pass more flexible for players. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed the collaboration via social media, stating the two companies are “teaming up again” to enhance the subscription service’s flexibility. The announcement comes shortly after Microsoft reduced prices for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscriptions.
While specific details remain unclear, the partnership appears to focus on bundling third-party services into Game Pass, with Discord Nitro potentially being integrated into subscription tiers. Sharma indicated that code related to the initiative may begin appearing in public builds soon, with more details to follow in the coming weeks.
The collaboration builds on previous joint efforts between Xbox and Discord dating back to 2022, when Discord integration first arrived on Xbox platforms. Since then, the companies have explored various cross-promotional opportunities between Discord Nitro and Game Pass subscriptions. Discord CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy has also been involved in the announcement, though specific comments were not detailed in initial reports.
Microsoft’s move reflects broader efforts to increase Game Pass’s appeal by bundling complementary services, particularly as the company develops customizable subscription options. The “pick your own plan” formula reportedly under consideration would give players greater control over their Game Pass tier, potentially with different service bundling options depending on subscription level.
