Review: Alien: Rogue Incursion Evolved Edition (Switch 2) - A Solid Port, But An Imperfect Organism

Alien: Rogue Incursion has launched on Nintendo’s Switch 2 as the “Evolved Edition,” marking a significant adaptation from its original VR release. The game has been redesigned as a traditional first-person shooter for the handheld console, transitioning away from virtual reality mechanics to offer broader accessibility to console players.

The Evolved Edition represents the first installment of a planned two-part narrative experience. According to reports from 2024, the second chapter is currently in development, suggesting the story will continue in a future release.

Rogue Incursion’s arrival comes during a strong period for Alien games on console platforms. Following the critical failure of Colonial Marines, the franchise has experienced a notable renaissance in console adaptations. Recent releases including Fireteam Elite and Dark Descent have been well-received by players, establishing renewed consumer confidence in Alien titles outside of the Isolation franchise.

While the reviewer describes Rogue Incursion as “pretty good,” the game carries some notable issues that prevent it from reaching its full potential. Despite these shortcomings, the port continues the franchise’s recent positive momentum on dedicated hardware platforms.
