Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: A Top-To-Bottom Remake With Graphics and Gameplay Upgrades

After more than a year of leaks and rumors, Ubisoft officially unveiled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on April 23, 2026, confirming the highly anticipated remake of the beloved 2013 pirate adventure. The game will launch on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC at $59.99, with a $199.99 Collector’s Edition available.

The remake is a ground-up reconstruction using the latest version of the Anvil Engine, featuring overhauled visuals with high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting, dynamic weather, and improved environmental detail. Gameplay has been significantly modernized with a reworked combat system emphasizing faster, more fluid action, improved stealth mechanics, refined movement systems, and seamless area transitions. New story content and expanded Animus moments have also been added to complement Edward Kenway’s original adventure.

Ubisoft emphasized the remake remains “faithful” to the original experience while avoiding the RPG direction taken by more recent franchise entries. However, the remake comes with notable exclusions: the multiplayer mode has been removed, the Freedom Cry DLC is not integrated, and modern-day sections have been significantly reduced compared to the original.

Developed by Ubisoft Singapore, the remake will leverage current-generation console hardware, with PS5 Pro owners seeing particular enhancements via Sony’s PSSR2 upscaler. PC requirements are relatively modest, with GTX 1660 support at the entry level. The game will skip Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 at launch.
