Metal Slug Classics Are Dirt Cheap on PS5, PS4 Right Now
To mark Metal Slug’s 30th anniversary, SNK and Hamster Corporation are offering significant discounts on classic entries in the run-’n’-gun series across PlayStation platforms. The sale runs through May 7th and provides an excellent opportunity for players to build out their Metal Slug collection at deeply reduced prices.
The original Metal Slug debuted in Japanese arcades on April 19, 1996, before arriving on the Neo Geo AES console the following month. The series spawned multiple sequels and enhanced versions that have since been preserved and re-released through Hamster’s Arcade Archives initiative.
Currently on sale are the six main Neo Geo entries—Metal Slug 1 through 5 and Metal Slug X (an enhanced port of Metal Slug 2)—all reduced to $3.99 each on PS5 and PS4. Additional titles are also discounted, including Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug XX, and Metal Slug Attack Reloaded, priced between $2.99 and $4.99 depending on the version.
Metal Slug X merits special attention as it was released as an upgraded version of Metal Slug 2, featuring numerous gameplay refinements and changes. The sale effectively offers these classic games at some of their lowest available prices, with the original Metal Slug itself dropping to just $3.99 for this limited window.
For both nostalgic players and newcomers, this 30th anniversary promotion provides an excellent chance to experience the run-’n’-gun classics that defined the genre, all available digitally on current PlayStation hardware.
