Japanese Charts: Tomodachi Life’s Huge Start Crushes The Competition
Nintendo’s Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream had a dominant debut in Japan’s weekly sales charts, selling 565,405 copies during its first week (April 16-19). The life simulation game significantly outperformed all competition, with its sales exceeding the combined total of the rest of the top 10.
The second-place title, Pragmata on PlayStation 5, managed only 36,470 copies in comparison. The PS5 version’s considerably lower sales figures highlight Tomodachi Life’s commanding market position. Notably, Pragmata’s Switch 2 version had not yet released as of the chart period, with a launch scheduled for April 24.
The remainder of the top ten featured familiar Nintendo franchises and popular titles. Pokémon Pokopia continued its strong performance in third place, with Mario Kart World and Minecraft rounding out the top five. Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story marked its physical retail debut at seventh position. Physical editions of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen also appeared in the charts through download card sales.
