Fired Unknown Worlds execs withdraw claim that Krafton violated court order by announcing Subnautica 2 release date
Three Unknown Worlds executives—fired founders Max McGuire and Charlie Cleveland, alongside reinstated CEO Ted Gill—have withdrawn their claim that publisher Krafton violated a Delaware court order by announcing the Subnautica 2 early access release date.
In a letter filed with the Delaware State Court of Chancery on Wednesday, the executives’ legal counsel stated they “no longer contend that Krafton violated the Court’s March 16, 2026 opinion.” This withdrawal reverses earlier accusations that Krafton had leaked the release date information to gaming outlet IGN without Gill’s approval.
The withdrawn claim had formed part of a broader legal dispute in which the three executives alleged that Krafton deliberately orchestrated a scheme to sabotage the Subnautica 2 early access timeline, reportedly to avoid paying $250 in undisclosed compensation. The withdrawal marks a significant shift in the contentious legal battle between the executives and Krafton over control and strategic decision-making regarding the highly anticipated sequel’s release strategy.
