Valve Appears to Tease Cache in New CS2 X Banner

Valve has updated the X banner for Counter-Strike 2, sparking speculation among the community about the potential return of the Cache map. The updated banner appears to display the Terrorist spawn area of Cache, one of the beloved maps that has been absent from CS2’s release roster.

This teaser follows a similar strategy Valve employed with the Train map. Train, which was featured in CS2’s announcement materials but not available at launch, was preceded by two teaser images showing the map’s spawn floors. Train was officially released nine days after the initial teaser in November 2024, more than a year after CS2’s initial release in September 2023.

The Cache teaser has generated excitement within the Counter-Strike community, with fans anticipating an official announcement of the map’s return. Cache has long been considered an essential map in the competitive Counter-Strike rotation, and its absence from CS2 has been a notable gap for players accustomed to the classic map pool.

Based on Valve’s previous approach with Train, the community expects an official release announcement within the coming days, though no specific timeline has been confirmed. The development team appears to be continuing its strategy of gradually reintroducing classic maps to Counter-Strike 2, expanding the available map pool beyond current selections.
