Man Arrested in Singapore for Allegedly Leaking The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, Could Face Up to 7 Years in Jail
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Singapore for allegedly leaking The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, Nickelodeon’s upcoming animated film. According to The Straits Times, police believe the suspect gained unauthorized access to a media server, downloaded the unreleased film, and subsequently leaked portions of it online. A copy of the film was recovered from one of his devices.
The arrest comes weeks after the leaks began on April 12, when X user ImStillDissin posted two clips from the film claiming that Nickelodeon had accidentally emailed him the entire movie. The user also shared images from the film’s credits, revealing previously unknown cast members and roles. While the posted content was removed via copyright strikes, these measures proved insufficient—the complete film eventually leaked online.
The suspect faces serious legal consequences under Singapore’s Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act. The charge of unauthorized access to computer material carries a maximum prison sentence of seven years, fines up to $50,000, or both. The case represents a significant security breach for Nickelodeon and highlights ongoing challenges for studios in protecting unreleased content from being distributed before its official release date.
