A Battlefield Movie Is Coming To Kick Off Another Battle With Call Of Duty

A Battlefield movie adaptation is in early development with major creative talent attached. Director and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, known for the Mission: Impossible franchise and Oscar-winning screenplay for The Usual Suspects, is set to write, direct, and produce the film. Oscar-winning actor Michael B. Jordan (Sinners) will also produce and may star in the adaptation, pending deal negotiations.

The project is currently being pitched to major studios and streaming platforms as a “hot package,” with pitches reportedly targeting companies like Apple and Sony Pictures. Electronic Arts is serving as a producer. No details about the film’s story, setting, or production timeline have been disclosed.

The announcement comes approximately one week after Paramount and Activision revealed a Call of Duty movie scheduled for 2028, intensifying competition between Hollywood adaptations of these major military shooter franchises. The Battlefield movie represents another attempt to bring the franchise to film, following several failed efforts to develop a Battlefield television series.
