Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Isn’t Coming To Switch 2 (For Now)
Ubisoft has officially revealed Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced with a confirmed platform lineup: the remastered pirate adventure is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in July. Notably absent from the announcement and official FAQ is Nintendo’s Switch 2 console, marking a significant gap given Ubisoft’s recent track record of bringing major titles to the handheld hybrid platform.
The omission comes as something of a surprise, as the Nintendo Switch 2 should theoretically be capable of running the game. Black Flag Resynced is built on the same Anvil Engine technology that powers Assassin’s Creed Shadows, one of Ubisoft’s most visually demanding and technically complex releases to date.
While Ubisoft has not explicitly ruled out a future Switch 2 version—the headline’s “for now” qualifier suggests the door remains open—the company has provided no official statement regarding potential ported versions or release timelines. This represents a departure from Ubisoft’s recent strategy of supporting Nintendo’s platforms with premium franchise entries, leaving players wondering whether a Switch 2 port is in development, delayed, or simply not planned.
