Blizzard Apologizes For World Of Warcraft’s Bad 12.0.5 Patch: “We Will Do Better”

World of Warcraft’s latest patch 12.0.5, released on April 21, launched with a significant number of bugs and issues that left the player community frustrated. The patch introduced several new features including Decor Duel (a hide-and-seek/prop hunt mode), new fishing mechanics, and additional PvE leveling opportunities. However, the launch did not go smoothly.

Among the reported problems were a critical exploit that revealed the positions of seekers on the map (essentially giving them “X-ray vision”), broken class mechanics, confusing design decisions, and raid-breaking glitches. The combination of these issues created what players described as one of the messiest updates in recent memory for the long-running MMORPG.

On April 23, Blizzard issued a formal apology across multiple platforms including Reddit, X (formerly Twitter), and their blog. The studio acknowledged that the patch launch “was not up to our standards” and that it had “disrupted your time and caused justified frustration.” The team stated they were “working around the clock” to address the mounting issues.

In their response, Blizzard committed to learning from the problematic launch to prevent similar situations in the future. The studio also pledged to improve communication with the community, promising to communicate “openly, early, and often” going forward. The developers emphasized their care for the game, noting that the team plays World of Warcraft alongside the playerbase.
