Marvel’s Venom Game Canceled Following Passing of Tony Todd, It’s Claimed
A Venom-focused video game reportedly canceled by Insomniac Games following voice actor Tony Todd’s death in 2024, according to claims made by Nadji Jeter on the Love It Film podcast. Jeter, who voices Miles Morales in Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, revealed that the studio had been developing both a standalone Venom game and accompanying DLC content, which he had seen in development materials shown to him.
Following Venom’s prominent appearance in Spider-Man 2 for PlayStation 5, speculation had emerged about potential Venom-focused projects. Jeter’s podcast revelation provides the first concrete claim that such a game was actively in development. He noted that the project would have been a full Venom-centered game, building on the character’s role in Spider-Man 2.
Tony Todd, who voiced the Venom character in Spider-Man 2, passed away in 2024. According to Jeter’s account, Insomniac chose to cancel the Venom game project rather than proceed with recasting the role following Todd’s death.
The claim highlights how voice talent departures can impact video game development timelines and priorities. While Insomniac Games has not publicly confirmed the existence or cancellation of the Venom game, Jeter’s firsthand account—having worked with the studio on the Spider-Man series—suggests the project had progressed to at least the planning and pre-production stages before being shelved.
