Niantic is closing its virtual pet game Peridot

Niantic has announced the closure of Peridot, its virtual pet game that launched on mobile in 2023. In-app purchases have been immediately removed, the game will be delisted from app stores on May 14, 2026, and servers will shut down on August 31, 2026.

According to Appmagic estimates, Peridot generated $2.9 million in in-app purchase revenue and accumulated 1.9 million downloads since launch. The United States accounted for the majority of both metrics, contributing 66% of revenue and 57% of downloads.

Peridot was notably excluded from Scopely’s major acquisition spree last year, which brought several high-profile Niantic titles under the publisher’s ownership, including Pokémon Go, Monster Hunter Now, and Pikmin Bloom. Despite its relatively modest financial performance, the game had expanded beyond mobile into mixed reality experiences, including a Hello, Dot spin-off available on Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro, as well as a Peridot Beyond app for Snap Spectacles. Niantic confirmed the closure in a farewell blog post, marking the end of the game’s life cycle across its various platforms.
