Saros review

Saros, the latest game from Housemarque, has launched to strong critical acclaim on PlayStation 5, earning a Metacritic score of 88/100 across 86 reviews. The action-focused sequel to 2019’s Returnal is being praised for its fast-paced combat, impressive visual spectacle, and intricate mechanical design that delivers exhilarating moments reminiscent of the original.

A notable distinction from Returnal is Saros’s increased accessibility. While maintaining a significant challenge level, the game is considerably more welcoming than its notoriously difficult predecessor, making it appealing to a broader audience. Critics remain somewhat divided on whether this design decision successfully preserves what made Returnal special, though the overall consensus leans positive.

The 88 Metacritic score marks a slight improvement over Returnal’s 86-point score from five years ago, positioning Saros among 2026’s best-reviewed games to date. However, it falls short of the 90-point threshold that would place it in rare company this year, as no 2026 game has yet achieved that milestone.

Housemarque has once again delivered a polished AAA experience featuring the developer’s signature blend of striking visuals and frenetic gameplay.
