This PS5 Roguelike Turns Alice in Wonderland into a Gritty Poker Action Game

CRYMELIGHT, a new roguelike action game from FuRyu, will launch on PlayStation 5 on November 5th as a spiritual successor to the studio’s previous titles CRYSTAR and CRYMACHINA. The game reimagines Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland as a dark, gritty action experience, blending the classic literary work with poker mechanics to create a unique gameplay hybrid.

The protagonist is a young girl known only as “Alice” who awakens with no memory of her past. She discovers she must journey to the lowest layer of Purgatory to earn her “Rebirth.” The narrative follows her departure from the Tea Party Hall as she defeats enemies spawned from madness while confronting and confessing her past sins. The game emphasizes emotional growth and character development alongside its action-oriented roguelike gameplay.

Described as a “dark bishoujou action” title, CRYMELIGHT combines fast-paced combat with the roguelike genre’s procedural challenge structure. The integration of poker mechanics into the battle system represents an innovative approach to action gaming, offering strategic depth beyond traditional combat systems. The game’s thematic use of the Wonderland setting and Purgatory locale suggests a darker, more mature take on Carroll’s whimsical narrative.

As the third installment in what appears to be an expanding series, CRYMELIGHT continues FuRyu’s track record of experimental game design. The franchise has built a reputation for emotionally resonant storytelling combined with challenging action gameplay. With its November 5th release date confirmed for PS5, the title is positioned to expand the studio’s presence on PlayStation while offering players a distinctive roguelike experience that merges literary adaptation with contemporary game design trends.
