Arc Raiders is finally overhauling its competitive Trials, starting with making them more fun and less frustrating

Arc Raiders’ Trials system is undergoing significant changes beginning with Trials Season 4 on April 29. Trials are weekly competitive challenges where players earn high scores to unlock unique outfits, but the feature has been widely criticized for bland objectives and restrictive scheduling that made it feel like a chore rather than a rewarding experience.

Embark Studios has committed to overhauling the system to make Trials “more fun and less frustrating” and to give “all Raiders a fair chance to get stuck in and grind.” One key change involves expanding access: Trials will now be available during Expedition windows, whereas previously they were unavailable during these periods, creating gaps that limited when players could participate.

The studio’s overhaul addresses long-standing community complaints while attempting to integrate Trials more seamlessly into Arc Raiders’ live-service experience. While some players have argued the current system is problematic, the improvements aim to make Trials a more engaging component of the overall experience rather than a frustrating obligation.
