Assassin’s Creed Hexe loses another game director, and it’s the second one this year
Benoit Richer, the game director of Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, has announced his departure from Ubisoft to co-found Servo Games, an independent studio based in Quebec. This marks the second director-level departure from the project this year, following creative director Clint Hocking’s exit earlier in 2026.
Richer will serve as game director at the newly formed Servo Games alongside fellow Ubisoft veterans Luc Tremblay (president, creative director, and director of technology), Alex Drouin (animation director), and Dany Marcoux (art director). The move comes after Richer spent nine years at Ubisoft Montreal, initially joining in 2001 as a level designer before rising through the ranks.
The departures represent a significant shake-up for the “darker” Assassin’s Creed project, which has already seen broader leadership changes across the franchise. Richer brought substantial industry experience, having previously worked as a senior director at Warner Bros. Montreal on Batman: Arkham Origins and as co-development director on Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. While Richer announced his transition on LinkedIn with the message “This is the beginning of a new chapter,” he did not provide details about Servo Games’ first project.
