Shonen Jump’s most popular new manga Kagurabachi finally gets anime adaptation

Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi, one of Weekly Shonen Jump’s most popular recent manga series, is receiving an anime adaptation set to premiere in April 2027. The announcement was made during Shonen Jump’s Jump Press event, where a teaser trailer debuted showcasing the adaptation’s visual direction and animation style.

The anime will be produced by Cypic Studios, known for Umamusume: Pretty Derby and The Summer Hikaru Died, with direction from Tetsuya Takeuchi, a celebrated action animation director. The teaser prominently features the series’ protagonist, Chihiro Rokuhira, and displays a “slick and gritty” animation aesthetic that captures the manga’s dark, action-driven tone.

The Jump Press event also featured announcements for other major Shonen Jump manga properties, but Kagurabachi’s anime adaptation represents a significant milestone for the recently popular series. The manga, centered on a story of vengeance tempered by steel and patience, has gained considerable traction within the Shonen Jump lineup, and the anime adaptation appears positioned to bring its intense visual action to a broader audience.
