KPop Demon Hunters’ McDonald’s performance underwhelms fans
The voice actors behind Huntr/x, the fictional band from Netflix and Sony Animation’s KPop Demon Hunters animated series, performed live for the first time at a McDonald’s collaboration event. The performance premiered a new song titled “How It’s Done” on the McDonald’s mobile app on April 26.
The cast members—Ejae (voice of Rumi), Audrey Nuna (voice of Mira), and Rei Ami (voice of Zoey)—had previously performed the band’s hit song “Golden” to enthusiastic fan response. This McDonald’s collaboration marked their debut performance of new material. The fast-food chain had teased the event in advance via social media, positioning it as a major announcement.
Despite the anticipation and the accompanying news that Huntr/x won a competition referred to as “Battle,” the live performance received a notably underwhelming fan response. The reception fell significantly short of the positive reception that earlier “Golden” performances had generated, disappointing fans who had been eager to see the band perform fresh material.
