People Can Fly acquires Cooldown Games to establish dedicated publishing vertical

Polish video game developer and publisher People Can Fly has acquired Cooldown Games, a Texas-based game publisher founded in 2024 by veterans from Gearbox Publishing. The acquisition establishes a dedicated publishing vertical within People Can Fly, allowing the studio to internalize its go-to-market strategy and distribution management.

Cooldown Games was created with the mission of publishing games designed for busy players. The two companies have a proven collaborative history, having previously worked together on Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, which achieved commercial success with over 1 million copies sold across PC and console platforms worldwide.

The acquisition is part of People Can Fly’s strategy to regain industry traction and achieve greater scale. By bringing publishing capabilities in-house through Cooldown Games, the studio aims to create new incremental revenue streams that will support its broader business goals. The move represents a significant vertical integration, combining People Can Fly’s development expertise with Cooldown’s publishing infrastructure and market know-how.
