PS5 Price Increases Hit Another Region, Effective from 1st May
Sony is expanding its PlayStation 5 price increase campaign to additional regions, with price hikes taking effect on May 1, 2026. The increases will affect Southeast Asia—including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam—as well as South Korea.
The price increases are particularly significant in South Korea, where the PS5 Digital Edition will jump from ₩598,000 to ₩858,000, a 43% increase. The standard PS5 will rise from ₩748,000 to ₩948,000 (a 27% increase), and the PS5 Pro will increase from ₩1.118 million to ₩1.298 million (a 16% increase).
In Southeast Asia, new pricing in local currencies includes Singapore (PS5: SGD 849; PS5 Digital: SGD 764; PS5 Pro: SGD 1,167; PS Portal: SGD 347), Malaysia (PS5: MYR 2,799; PS5 Digital: MYR 2,499; PS5 Pro: MYR 3,999; PS Portal: MYR 1,099), Thailand (PS5: THB 20,990; PS5 Digital: THB 18,790; PS5 Pro: THB 30,990; PS Portal: THB 8,380), and Indonesia (PS5: IDR 11,399,000; PS5 Digital: IDR 9,999,000).
Sony attributed the increases to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” This represents the latest in an ongoing series of PlayStation 5 price hikes across multiple regions, reflecting broader economic and inflationary challenges affecting the gaming hardware market.
