Shovel Knight Fans Will Really Dig Crypt Of The NecroDancer’s New Crossover DLC
Brace Yourself Games is celebrating Crypt of the NecroDancer’s 11-year anniversary in 2026 with a crossover DLC pack featuring Shovel Knight as a new playable character. First announced late in 2025, the DLC is now available for download on the Nintendo eShop for $1.99 / £1.69.
The collaboration brings Shovel Knight’s distinctive gameplay into the rhythm action experience. Players can utilize his iconic ‘drop’ move to bounce between enemies to the beat and employ wall-bouncing mechanics to maintain momentum and rhythm flow. The DLC features an original soundtrack composed by Jake Kaufman, incorporating his celebrated Shovel Knight compositions into Crypt of the NecroDancer’s rhythmic framework.
This crossover represents a convergence of two respected independent gaming properties. Crypt of the NecroDancer has established itself through its blend of roguelike mechanics with music-driven gameplay, while Shovel Knight has become synonymous with high-quality indie game design. The partnership allows Shovel Knight—one of indie gaming’s most iconic characters—to expand into new gaming experiences, while Crypt of the NecroDancer continues building its roster through strategic collaborations.
