Take-Two CEO says “there’s nothing to announce” about an LA Noire sequel after acquiring its creator’s studio, but “the teams are always looking at what we have”
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has offered cautiously optimistic comments about the potential future of LA Noire, the acclaimed detective adventure game originally created by Team Bondi and Rockstar Games nearly 15 years ago. Speaking at the iicon summit in Las Vegas, Zelnick was asked directly about LA Noire sequel prospects. While he emphasized there is “nothing to announce,” he offered a glimmer of hope by saying “You never know.”
Zelnick elaborated on Take-Two’s broader approach to its intellectual property portfolio, stating that the publisher is “looking at doing something in the future with all of our intellectual property.” He suggested that the company’s creative teams are continuously evaluating existing properties for potential new projects.
The comments mark a notable shift in public tone surrounding the long-dormant franchise. Despite Rockstar Games stating in 2012 that it wouldn’t “count out the possibility” of a sequel, no follow-up has materialized in the intervening years. LA Noire, which first launched in 2011, has maintained a dedicated fan base and has seen renewed interest through ports to additional platforms.
Zelnick’s remarks indicate that while no LA Noire sequel is in active development—or at least none that Take-Two is ready to reveal—the publisher continues to consider the franchise as a potential vehicle for future projects. The statement represents the most concrete acknowledgment to date that LA Noire remains part of Take-Two’s long-term strategic thinking, even if any revival remains speculative.
