Microsoft Issues Xbox Email Addresses As Part Of ‘Strengthening The Xbox Identity’
Microsoft is rebranding its gaming division under the unified Xbox banner and will issue @xbox.com email addresses to all Xbox employees as part of this effort. The change, rolling out next month, represents a significant shift in how the company presents its gaming operations internally and externally.
Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is spearheading this consolidation through the initiative “We are Xbox,” which includes eliminating the “Microsoft Gaming” division name and returning to Xbox branding across the board. According to reporting from The Verge, all Xbox employees will receive the new @xbox.com email addresses.
The new email address will serve as the default sender address for employees, replacing their existing @microsoft.com addresses. However, employees have the option to opt out and retain their Microsoft email address as their primary send-from address if they prefer.
The rebrand extends to Mojang employees as well—the studio behind Minecraft, acquired by Microsoft in 2014—who will also receive branded email addresses as part of the same initiative. This signals Microsoft’s broader strategy to reinforce Xbox as a cohesive gaming identity, both internally among staff and externally to players and partners.
The move underscores ongoing efforts at Xbox to position itself as a stronger, more unified gaming division following previous organizational restructuring and represents a visible shift in corporate identity as the company consolidates its gaming properties under the Xbox brand.
