Former EA, Microsoft & Ubisoft Devs Open New Studio, Making ‘Project-S’
Chaotic works, a newly formed indie studio based in the United Kingdom, has announced its debut multiplayer action game, codenamed Project-S. Founded in 2023 by Karl Francis and Lawrence Grabowski, the studio has assembled a team of 15 developers who previously contributed to notable AAA titles including Fallout, Forza Horizon, and Splinter Cell.
The studio’s formation came about despite significant financial constraints, with the founding team operating on limited personal savings while securing support from UK angel investors. This approach reflects a broader industry trend of experienced AAA developers establishing independent studios to pursue creative autonomy while leveraging their substantial industry expertise.
Project-S represents an ambitious debut for the fledgling studio, targeting the multiplayer action game space. While specific details about gameplay mechanics, release timeline, and platform targets remain undisclosed, the team’s composition suggests considerable expertise in action game design and large-scale production, positioning the studio to make a meaningful contribution to the competitive indie multiplayer landscape.
