‘Haneda Girl’ Is A New 2D Action-Platformer From The ‘Narita Boy’ Dev
Studio Koba, the developer behind the cyberpunk-inspired platformer Narita Boy, has announced a new 2D action-platformer titled Haneda Girl, launching on the Nintendo Switch eShop on May 7th, 2026. While sharing DNA with the studio’s previous work, Haneda Girl represents a significant departure in gameplay style, emphasizing fast-paced action over the trippy aesthetic of Narita Boy.
Players take on the role of Chichi Wakaba, tasked with saving the Data Empire from an invasion of Hackernauts. The core gameplay mechanic allows players to dynamically swap between controlling Wakaba herself and her tactical combat mecha partner, M.O.T.H.E.R. Wakaba is equipped with a light katana called “KenChan” and features stealth and invisibility abilities, enabling diverse tactical approaches to combat encounters.
Studio Koba highlights the game’s defining characteristics as “tight controls, an addictive loop and the best techno music you’ll hear this season,” positioning Haneda Girl as a focused, action-driven experience. The combination of responsive controls and a strong soundtrack aims to deliver engaging moment-to-moment gameplay, while the mechaswapping mechanic adds strategic depth to the action-platformer formula.
