Nine years later, Injustice 3 is reportedly finally in development
Multiple reports suggest that Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios is actively developing Injustice 3, the next installment in its DC fighting game franchise. The reports are based on a screenshot of a Warner Bros. Games artist’s resume that explicitly lists Injustice 3 among their projects, alongside Hogwarts Legacy 2 and two unannounced titles.
This represents the first concrete indication of the game’s development after nearly nine years since Injustice 2’s launch in May 2017. The evidence comes from MP1st, which obtained the resume screenshot though most details were blurred “for confidentiality reasons.” While the source cannot be independently verified, it aligns with previous speculation about the franchise’s future.
The news follows earlier hints about the project. Approximately a year prior to these reports, a dataminer had strongly suggested Injustice 3 was in development, and voice actors portraying Superman and Aquaman had reportedly made comments indicating their involvement in a future Injustice title.
NetherRealm’s last released game was Mortal Kombat 1, which launched in 2023. Since then, the studio has focused on post-launch content and updates for the fighting game. The studio’s next major project has long been the subject of fan speculation, with many hoping for a new entry in the Injustice series rather than additional Mortal Kombat content.
