“I just wanted to take Solstice … and kind of blow it up a little bit”: This solo Xbox dev has built a puzzle gauntlet with metroidvania leanings, and it’s coming soon
OOLO, an isometric metroidvania puzzle game, launches May 20, 2026 across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5. Developed solo by Riddle Master Productions, the game features over 400 puzzle rooms and a purple wizard protagonist, offering a blend of nostalgic gameplay inspired by classic gaming’s isometric perspective era.
The developer described their vision as reimagining the Solstice formula with ambitions to “blow it up a little bit.” The game leverages the isometric camera technique—an angled view that creates the illusion of 3D spaces—a legacy approach from gaming’s infancy when true 3D development remained inaccessible to most teams. This classic visual style combines with modern puzzle-gauntlet mechanics to drive the core experience.
The title supports Xbox Play Anywhere, enabling cross-platform access on Xbox consoles and Windows PC. OOLO will not launch on Xbox Game Pass, with pricing details to be announced later.
