The Next Plague Tale Release ‘Is Almost Here’, Launches On Xbox Game Pass In 2026
Asobo Studio has confirmed that Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the third installment in the A Plague Tale franchise, is nearing completion with a 2026 release window. The studio shared in a developer blog that “the release is almost here” and the team is now focused on “testing, balancing, and refining the game mechanics” in the final development phase.
Resonance serves as a prequel to the first two Plague Tale games, set 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Innocence. Players will control Sophia, a 22-year-old smuggler who previously appeared in A Plague Tale: Requiem. The story follows Sophia as she embarks on a perilous treasure hunt while defying her former mentor, a journey that will shape her character and presumably lead to the events of the original game.
The game was first announced nearly a year ago at Summer Game Fest but has received limited updates since then. This developer blog marks the first significant update on the title’s status. The game is confirmed to launch on Xbox Game Pass in 2026, with releases expected on PlayStation and PC as well. It has been four years since the release of A Plague Tale: Requiem, making Resonance the long-awaited next chapter in the franchise.
